Youth Program Manager
Kajal joined Refugee & Immigrant Transitions in April 2019 and currently works as the Senior Youth Program Manager, overseeing RIT's after-school and youth tutoring/ mentoring and newcomer student enrollment support programs.
An immigrant from Iran and fluent in Farsi, Kajal was introduced to the international humanitarian sphere and refugee resettlement while volunteering at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Oakland office, supporting newly arrived refugees in finding employment. Kajal has worked with the IRC as a Resettlement Caseworker and Education Specialist, supporting newly arrived refugee families to make sure they have access to education services in Oakland and the East Bay and has been a consultant for two London-based organizations, supporting their efforts in developing safeguarding procedures and implementing community workshops for young refugees and unaccompanied asylum seekers to navigate life in the United Kingdom. Kajal received her B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies with a minor in Public Policy from UC Berkeley, and holds a Master’s Degree in International Child Studies with a focus on Refugee Children's Right to Education from King's College, London.
